WATERVILLE, Maine - A strong second day from the Williams College Nordic ski team at the Colby Carnival help the Ephs to an overall 7th place finish in a competition that took place over the course of two weekends.
After Alpine competed last weekend, Nordic was up on Friday and Saturday, braving incredibly cold conditions to compete at Quarry Road in Waterville, Maine.
In the men's freestyle on Friday, the Ephs were seventh of the 14 competing teams, with points coming from Quinn McDermott (13th place, 28 points), Cole Bothner (21st place, 23 points), and Miles Miner (four points). In the women's freestyle, Ann Rightmire (19 points), Seven Bowen (7 points) and Bailey Carmack (5 points) helped the team score for the Ephs.
The Ephs' men had an even better day on Saturday in the frigid cold Classic, with Bothner finishing 7th and earning 37 points, McDermott earning 26 points for 16th place, and Miner getting 18 points for 32nd place. Their total was the fourth highest of any competing team, behind UVM, Colby, and Dartmouth. The women got points from Rightmire (11), Luci Ludwig (9) and Carmack (9).
The results tallied up to give the Ephs another 7th place finish, having earned the same spot in the St. Lawrence Carnival, which also wrapped up this weekend with Alpine competing in New York. The Ephs will be at the Dartmouth Carnival next weekend.
