No. 12 Ephs sweep series at No. 10 Colby with 4-1 win Saturday

WATERVILLE, Maine - Sophomore forward Annie Gallagher of the No. 12-ranked Williams College women's ice hockey team recorded her third multi-goal effort of her collegiate career, to go along with the game-winning tally, during a 4-1 victory at No. 10 Colby Saturday afternoon.

The Ephs (12-1-3, 5-1-2 NESCAC) swept the two-game series with the Mules (10-4-0, 5-3-0 NESCAC), as the unit recorded a 2-0 victory on the road Friday evening. Williams has accumulated 18 NESCAC points and currently sits in second place in the conference standings.

Senior goaltender Erin Pye made 29 saves for a .967 save percentage. First-year forward Savana Littlewood posted a two-assist performance, as she leads the team with 10 on the season. Williams held a 35-30 advantage in shots, while the Ephs went 1 for 5 on the power play and killed off all four Colby opportunities on the advantage. Senior forward Jaelyn Keiver finished with an 11-6 record in the faceoff circle.

Williams jumped onto the scoreboard at the 9:40 mark of the opening period, as sophomore forward Charlotte Fetherston's shot from the right faceoff circle was saved and Gallagher was able to bury an attempt off the rebound from the right edge of the crease during a power play. Littlewood received a pass in the neutral zone from first-year defender Laney Mead, and then led Gallagher with a pass down the middle of the offensive zone and the Wellesley, Massachusetts, native was able to elude the goalkeeper for her second tally of the day at the 16:27 mark of the first.

Allie Corrieri scored for the hosts with 2:23 remaining in the first to trim the visitors' lead to 2-1. During the third period, the Ephs gave themselves some breathing room with two goals. Senior defender Claire Murphy was persistent. Her first shot was blocked, and then she buried her second attempt into the right side of the net with 6:07 left, pushing the lead up to 3-1. Senior forward Lucie Bond scored an empty-net tally with 2:15 on the clock to seal the victory.

The Ephs will compete against Hamilton Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Lansing Chapman Rink.
