WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Senior goaltender
Erin Pye made 38 saves and first-year forward
Savana Littlewood added two assists for the No. 8-ranked Williams College women's ice hockey team during a 3-1 victory over Hamilton Friday evening at Lansing Chapman Rink.
Pye improved to 10-1-2 on the season and recorded a .974 save percentage for the Ephs (13-1-3, 6-1-2 NESCAC), as Williams currently sits in third place in the NESCAC standings with 21 points and is on a 15-game undefeated streak.
The Ephs went 1 for 2 on the power play and killed off all three Hamilton opportunities on the advantage. Goalie Teagan Brown made 33 saves for the Continentals (9-6-3, 5-4-2 NESCAC).
Williams wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Littlewood's shot was saved off a faceoff win by sophomore
Skyler Moore. First-year
Reese Luber was able to bury the rebound into the back of the net at the 4:02 mark of the opening period.
The Ephs extended their lead to 2-0 with 3:05 remaining in the first, as senior assistant captain
Lucie Bond scored from the left faceoff circle. Neither team found the back of the net in the second, and then the Continentals trimmed the lead down to 2-1 with a goal by Sophia Testa 59 seconds into the third period.
Pye was outstanding in the third period, making 12 saves with Hamilton applying pressure for the equalizer. The Ephs were awarded a power-play opportunity with 1:48 left in the third, as the unit did an outstanding job maintaining possession in the Continentals' defensive zone. Sophomore
Zoe Rosenberg netted a one-timer into the left side of the net with 13.6 seconds left off a pass by senior
Jaelyn Keiver to secure the victory.
The Ephs will compete against Hamilton Saturday at 3 p.m. in Lansing Chapman Rink.
