LEWISTON, Maine — The Williams College men's basketball team fell 67–57 to Bates College on Friday night in NESCAC action at Alumni Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Ephs moved to 11–9 overall and 0–6 in conference play, while the Bobcats improved to 15–4 and 3–2 in league play.
Bates set the tone early, opening the game with an efficient first half to take a 37–24 advantage into the break. Williams settled in after halftime, showing improved execution on both ends and gradually cutting into the deficit.
The Ephs outscored the Bobcats 33–30 in the second half and closed the gap in several key moments, but Bates made timely plays down the stretch to secure the home victory.
Jackson Rein led the Ephs with 21 points, going 8-for-12 from the field and knocking down three three-pointers to fuel the Ephs' comeback effort.
Hudson Hansen added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds and five assists, while
Matt DeVine contributed 8 points, including two triples.
Aidan Yates finished with 7 points and five rebounds, while
Isiaha Dickens chipped in five off the bench.
Williams shot 41.5% from the field on the night and connected on 7 of 23 from three-point range, while going 6-for-12 at the free-throw line. The Ephs battled on the glass with 31 total rebounds and generated energy defensively with 8 steals and 10 turnovers forced.
Bates was led by Brady Coyne who knocked down 20 points for the Bobcats.
The Ephs will look to regroup as they continue NESCAC play next weekend with a road trip to Maine, facing Colby College on Friday night before taking on Bowdoin College on Saturday.
