SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Senior captain
Leon Liu, sophomore
Matthew Yang and first-year
Henry Pozefsky of the Williams College men's tennis team all won a match in the Main Draw Saturday during Day 1 action at the Skidmore Open.
"Not the best day result-wise, but honestly had some great matches with guys competing how they have trained," said 18th-year head coach
Dan Greenberg '08. "That said, too many lapses, so we need to keep developing match toughness and consistency."
Pozefsky picked up his first collegiate victory for the Ephs, defeating sophomore Bruce Lunder of Skidmore, 6-4, 6-3, during the Round of 16 in Flight D of the Main Singles Draw. Liu and Yang combined for a 7-6 (7-5) triumph during the Main Draw Quarterfinals in Flight B against senior Fletcher King and sophomore Ege Topbas of Skidmore.
The Ephs compete in Day 2 action at the Skidmore Open Sunday in Saratoga Springs, New York.
