CLINTON, N.Y. — The Williams College women's basketball team earned a 73–63 road victory over Hamilton College on Thursday night in NESCAC play at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
With the win, the Ephs improved to 11–12 overall and 4–5 in conference action, while Hamilton moved to 11–12 and 3–6 in league competition.
Williams and Hamilton traded baskets in a tightly contested opening quarter, with Hamilton holding a slim 18–16 edge after one. The Continentals carried a narrow 38–33 lead into halftime, but the Ephs turned the tide after the break, outscoring Hamilton 40–25 in the second half to pull away and secure the road victory.
Kathleen Smith delivered a dominant performance, recording a career-high 30 points on 14-of-22 shooting while pulling down 19 rebounds to post her sixth double-double of the season.
Micah Walton added 12 points, five rebounds, and a team-high four assists, while
Hanorah Murphy contributed nine points.
Evelyn Walcott finished with eight points and six rebounds, and
Sarah Pettegrove added eight points off the bench.
Tatum Leuenberger chipped in four points, while
Logan Coster contributed two points and six rebounds.
As a team, the Ephs shot 44.3% from the field and hit 50% from three-point range, while going 60.0% at the free-throw line. Williams also collected 48 total rebounds and forced 11 turnovers in the effort.
Hamilton was led by Kendall Harris with 14 points, while Maggie Kernodle added 13 and Erica Hills chipped in 11.
The Ephs wrap up the regular season tomorrow with a 3:00 p.m. matchup against Amherst.
