HANCOCK, Vt. - The Williams College ski team placed 9th at the Middlebury Carnival, finishing the season, with Alpine events held at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. The event featured the giant slalom on Friday and the slalom on Saturday as competitors battled tough conditions.
Cooper Iacobelli had the team's best finish, coming in 10th place in Friday's GS, just half a second back from second place. Simon Baron and William Zurbay also finished the race, earning valuable points for the team. Chloe Lathrop was the top finisher on the women's side, in 20th overall, with Ashley Anderson just behind in 24th, and Riley McHugh also earning team points. Magnolia Conacher and Eliza Sullivan finished outside the points for the Ephs.
On Saturday, the men's race saw more than a third of the field fail to finish, but Zurbay and Peter Laino both crossed the line to earn points for Williams. Lathrop finished in 23rd and Conacher and Sullivan tied for 26th in the women's race, all three picking up team points.
The Middlebury Carnival wrapped up the regular season for the Ephs, who will await word on whether any skiers will qualify for the NCAA Championships, where Alpine events will be held at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah, from March 11-14.
