HARTFORD, Conn. — The Williams College women's basketball team earned a 75–55 road victory over Trinity College (Conn.) on Saturday afternoon in the NESCAC Quarterfinals at Ray Oosting Gymnasium.
With the win, the Ephs improved to 13–12 overall and move on in postseason play and will compete in the NESCAC Semifinals next weekend.
The Ephs trailed 18–13 after the opening quarter but responded with a 20-point second period to take control of the game and tie it at 33 a piece heading into halftime. The Ephs continued to build on that surge in the second half, outscoring the Bantams 42–22 across the third and fourth quarters to pull away and secure the postseason road victory.
Four Ephs finished in double figures, led by
Logan Coster's 21-point performance. Coster shot 8-for-18 from the floor, connected on three three-pointers, and added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Micah Walton contributed 19 points on 8-for-17 shooting to go along with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Kathleen Smith recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Hanorah Murphy chipped in 10 points and five boards, while
Tatum Leuenberger added seven points and five rebounds.
Evelyn Walcott rounded out the effort with five points and four rebounds.
As a team, Williams shot 47.4% from the field, including 55.6% from beyond the arc, and went 72.7% at the free-throw line. The Ephs totaled 35 rebounds and converted 20 points off 15 Trinity turnovers in the win.
For Trinity, Avery Marzo led the Bantams with 14 points, while Kiki Fossbender scored 12 and Lucy Dorion added 11.
With the quarterfinal win secured, Williams now advances to the NESCAC Semifinals and will look to continue its postseason run next weekend.
