WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College women's squash team moved quickly past Bates College, winning 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Simon Squash Center. The #16 Ephs did not give up a single game against the #24 Bobcats, and will look to continue their form on Sunday against #19 Wesleyan University.
All of the Ephs' matches were over in 20 minutes or less as Williams pushed to stay in control of each match. The top Bobcats player gave Rhea Pandit the toughest time, but the junior maintained composure to win 11-5, 11-9, 11-8.
Williams also had winners including Melanie Wang at #2 (11-6, 11-1, 11-3), Rachel Miller at #3 (11-7, 11-2, 11-2), Roshni Pal at #4 (11-4, 11-5, 11-3), Sophia Koehler at #5 (11-3, 11-3, 11-2), Anika Kakarla at #6 (11-2, 11-2, 11-2), and Annie Chang at #7 (11-0, 11-1, 11-0). The Ephs won by default at #8 (Giselle Ciriaco) and #9 (Lucy Farman-Farmaian).
Sunday's match will be a sterner test against Little Three rival Wesleyan, ranked just three spots behind the Ephs in the national rankings. The match will begin play at 11am in the Simon Squash Center.
