Ephs Fall Short to Bowdoin

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. The Williams College women's basketball team battled but fell 64–51 to Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon at Chandler Athletic Center in NESCAC action, as the program also honored seniors Sarah Batra and Logan Coster as part of Senior Day festivities.

With the result, the Ephs moved to 10–12 overall and 3–5 in conference play, while the Polar Bears improved to 20–1 and 9–0 in league competition.

Williams and Bowdoin traded baskets early, with the Ephs keeping things tight through the opening quarter and trailing just 17–15 after one. The Polar Bears gained momentum in the second quarter, using efficient shooting and strong ball movement to build a 32–25 advantage by halftime.

Bowdoin maintained control coming out of the break, gradually extending its lead through the third quarter before pushing the margin to its largest point in the fourth. Williams made a late push, but the Polar Bears executed down the stretch to secure the road victory.

Micah Walton paced the Ephs with 17 points on 8-for-14 shooting while adding three rebounds and three steals. Logan Coster contributed 14 points in her Senior Day performance, and Hanorah Murphy added 10 points. Kathleen Smith finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Tatum Leuenberger pulled down five boards.

Williams also received key contributions from its bench, which combined for 16 points as multiple players provided energy throughout the contest.

As a team, the Ephs shot 42& from the field and 22.2% from three-point range while going 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. Williams totaled 29 rebounds and forced eight turnovers in the effort.

Bowdoin was led by Grace Kinum's 26 points, while Maria Belardi added 12 and Jamie Yue chipped in nine in a balanced offensive performance.
