Williams Defeats No.3 Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine- - The Williams College women's lacrosse team defeated No. 3 Colby on Saturday afternoon on the road. With the win, the Ephs improve to 1–1 overall and in NESCAC play.

Williams trailed 7–4 at halftime before mounting a strong second-half comeback, outscoring Colby 7–2 over the final two quarters to secure the victory against the No. 3 team in the nation.

Franny Donohue and Reece Willison led the Ephs offensively with three goals apiece, while Donohue also paced the team with two assists. 

Katy McCullough and CoCo Norman each added two goals, and Sydney Puntus contributed one goal and two assists to round out the scoring.

First-year Savoy McMahon earned her first collegiate start in goal and recorded eight saves.

Colby opened the game with two early goals before Willison put Williams on the board midway through the first period. The Ephs built momentum later in the quarter as Norman found the back of the net, followed by a Donohue goal less than 40 seconds later.

Williams sealed the road win with a 5–0 run stretching from late in the third quarter into the fourth, with five different Ephs contributing goals during the stretch.

The Ephs finished with 31 shots, including 17 on goal. Defensively, Williams forced 11 turnovers and controlled 15 draw controls.

Williams returns home on Wednesday, March 11, to host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 4:30 p.m.
