NEW LONDON, Conn. - Senior captains
Simon Volkema and
Nicholas Chen of the No. 18-ranked Williams College men's tennis team worked together to win, 6-2, at the top doubles position, and then emerged victorious by scores of 7-6, 6-2, and 6-4, 6-2, during the first and second singles slots, respectively, in a 7-0 NESCAC triumph at Connecticut College Sunday.
William Luke '29 and
Carter Fayard '28 teamed up to win, 7-5, at No. 2 doubles, and then
Anthony Lim '29 and
Robert Cooper Jr. '28 emerged victorious at the third slot by a score of 6-0. In addition to winning the three doubles events, the Ephs (3-0, 2-0 NESCAC) also defeated the Camels (2-3, 0-2 NESCAC) in the six singles matches.
Luke and Cooper Jr. recorded straight set victories at the third and fourth singles positions by scores of 6-2, 6-4, and 6-1, 7-5, respectively. During fifth singles,
Diego Marin '28 won both sets by scores of 6-1, and then
Matthew Yang '29 registered a 7-5, 6-4, win at No. 6 singles.
The Ephs will compete against No. 32 Bates on Sunday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in Lewiston, Maine.
