Jane Ladaga and
Mia Thomann and first-year
Ayanna Varma of the No. 20-ranked Williams College women's tennis team went 2-0, respectively, on Sunday during a 6-1 triumph at NESCAC-rival Connecticut College.
The Ephs (3-1, 1-1 NESCAC) earned the doubles point against the Camels (2-3, 0-2 NESCAC) by winning at the first and second positions. During the top slot, Ladaga and sophomore
Mia Roets won by a score of 6-2, and then in the second position, Thomann and Varma did not lose a single game in a 6-0 victory.
Williams won five of the six singles matches. First-year
Zoe Yao won in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5, at the second slot, and then in third position, Thomann emerged victorious, 6-3, 6-4. Varma (6-4, 6-2), sophomore
Ellie Stark (6-4, 6-3) and Ladaga (6-2, 6-2) won at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
The Ephs fell short, 7-0, to No. 4 Wesleyan Saturday in Middletown, Connecticut. Williams will host Bates on Sunday, March 15, at 10 a.m.
