WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Senior captains
Jane Ladaga and
Mia Thomann, along with first-year
Ayanna Varma, of the No. 20-ranked Williams College women's tennis team emerged victorious in singles and doubles action Sunday, as the Ephs earned a 6-1 victory over Bates at the Multipurpose Recreation Center.
The Ephs (4-1, 2-1 NESCAC) secured the one point in doubles competition by winning all three matches against the Bobcats (2-8, 1-3 NESCAC). Ladaga and sophomore
Mia Roets won by a score of 6-3 at the No. 1 position, and then at the second slot, Thomann and Varma did not lose a single game in a 6-0 triumph. Junior

Katelyn Wu grabbed a hard-fought 7-5 triumph at the third position.
Junior
Julia Zhang was outstanding at the No. 2 singles position, only losing one game in a 6-1, 6-0, straight-set triumph. Thomann won her first set, 6-2, during the third position and ultimately won as a result of retirement by her opposition. Varma won her first set, 6-0, during the fourth slot, and then closed out her match with a 6-2 victory in the second set.
Sophomore
Ellie Stark and Ladaga won by scores of 6-1, 6-0, and 6-2, 6-1, at the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
The Ephs will compete against No. 18 Case Western Reserve on Saturday at 2 p.m. from Christopher Newport in Newport News, Virgina.
