WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. — The Williams College baseball team used a strong offensive showing to defeat Bard, 16–6, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Bobby Coombs Field. With the win, the Ephs are now 10-17 overall.
Bard jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the first inning, but Williams answered right away with a six-run inning in the bottom of the half.
Hank Jacobus got things started with an RBI double to left center,
Will Scott added a two-run single, and
Dave Mosrie and
Quinn Carlesimo each drove in a run to give the Ephs a 6–2 advantage.
Williams continued to build its lead in the third, as Jacobus and
Ryan Nakajima each recorded an RBI single to make it an 8-2 game.
After Bard scored in the fourth, the Ephs responded once again, as
Anthony Lods delivered an RBI single down the left field line to extend the lead to 9–3.
Bard added two runs in the fifth, but Williams pulled away in the bottom half.
Sasha Palma knocked in two with a single, Mosrie followed with an RBI hit, and another run came across on a passed ball to push the lead to 13–5.
The Ephs added insurance in the sixth on sacrifice flies from Nakajima and
Ellington Fagan, and Carlesimo capped off the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh inning, to secure to 16-6 victory.
Williams saw six players drive in two runs apiece, with Scott, Mosrie, and Carlesimo leading the way with three hits each on the day.
The Ephs return to Bobby Coombs Field tomorrow (Wednesday, April 22) to host Union College in their final home game of the season.
