WILLIAMSTOWN, MA
— The Williams College baseball team fell to Union, 8–0, on Senior Day at Bobby Coombs Field. With the loss, the Ephs fall to 10-18 overall this season.
Prior to first pitch, the Ephs honored 10 seniors for their contributions to the program,
Luca Lopetrone,
Sasha Palma,
Michael Amendola,
Anthony Lods,
Ellington Fagan,
JH Vaughan,
Dave Mosrie,
Peyton Rose,
Issey Gestel, and
Daniel Okstein.
Both pitching staffs were strong throughout the afternoon, as Williams limited Union to just four hits through the first seven innings to keep it scoreless, while Union held the Ephs to five hits throughout.
After a scoreless game through seven innings, Union broke through in the eighth with a big inning to take control. The Garnet Chargers strung together a series of hits and took advantage of a hit-by-pitch and a Williams error to plate seven runs late in the game.
Union added one more in the ninth on an RBI single to extend the lead to 8-0 to earn the road victory.
Williams will look to bounce back this weekend as they travel to Middlebury for their final NESCAC series of the season, beginning Friday at 4:00 p.m.
