WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Williams College women's track and field team earned two College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America honorees,
Kate Swann and
Ellie Fitzgerald. Swann, a senior, earned Second Team honors, while fellow senior Fitzgerald was selected to the Third Team.
Swann, who received the W. Marriot Canby Class of 1981 Scholarship Prize for the highest cumulative GPA among Williams student-athletes, earned her first CSC Academic All-America honor after a sucessful 2025-26 cross country and track and field season.
During the cross country season, Swann helped lead the Ephs to a National Runners-Up finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. Individually, she earned USTFCCCA All-America and All-Region honors after placing seventh at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional and 27th at the NCAA Division III Championships. She also finished with NESCAC All-Conference recognition with a seventh-place finish at the conference championship.
Swann carried that momentum into the track and field seasons, helping the Ephs finish as NCAA Division III Indoor National Runners-Up while placing second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:50.37 to earn All-America honors.
She followed with a sixth-place finish in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships and placed fourth in the 5,000 meters at the NESCAC Outdoor Championships.
Swann concludes the 2025-26 season as a four-time All-American, four-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection, and four-time NESCAC All-Conference runner.
Fitzgerald earned her first CSC Academic All-America Third Team honors after another successful season in the pole vault.
During the indoor season, Fitzgerald cleared a program-record 4.05m to finish second at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, helping the Ephs secure a National Runners-Up finish while earning All-America honors.
She followed with a sixth place finish at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships after clearing 3.95m, another school record.
In addition to earning USTFCCCA All-America and All-Region honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, Fitzgerald was recognized as the NESCAC Field Athlete of the Week and earned NESCAC All-Conference honors.
Fitzgerald concludes her Williams career as a three-time All-American, four-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection, three-time NESCAC All-Conference athlete, and the program record holder in both the indoor (4.05m) and outdoor (3.95m) pole vault.
The honors also marked a historic achievement for Williams Athletics, marking seven Academic All-America selections during the spring season. Represented by men's tennis, women's hockey, women's crew, wrestling, men's track & field/cross country, and two women's track & field/cross country student-athletes, are the most in a single academic year in program history.
The previous record of six Academic All-Americans was accomplished three times, during the 2014-15, 2017-18 and 2023-24 academic years.
