SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Williams College volleyball team won a dominant 3-0 match over Oswego State to kick off the Skidmore Classic Friday night, led by sophomore Adalena Rodgers, who turned in a career-high evening.
 
Williams earned set victories of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-18 to open the weekend with a sweep. 

"We are really proud of how our team bounced back tonight from our match earlier this week. We thought they came out from the start of set one with awesome intensity, focus, and competitive energy that was great to see," said head coach Christi Kelsey. 

Rodgers powered the Ephs offensively, recording a career-high 13 kills while hitting an impressive .667 for the match. She added 11 digs to record her first double-double of the season and a block to finish off the night. 

Williams hit .293 as a team and recorded 43 kills while limiting to a .172 hitting percentage and only 28 kills. The Ephs also held a 13-5 advantage in service aces and finished the match with 41 digs. 

Kate Lane posted five kills, seven digs, four aces, and a block, while Maya Thompson added four kills, two aces, two digs and a solo block. Ellie Simons also recorded four service aces in tonight's victory. 

Lilly Carstens paced the Ephs with 13 assists, while Morgan Daetz and Emily Cao each added eight assists. 

"It was awesome to have impactful moments from everyone on our team that could play tonight. It really is great to see how much depth we have and how hard they all want to play for each other no matter who is on the court," said Kelsey.

The Ephs close out their weekend at the Skidmore Classic with a doubleheader match against St. John Fisher and Roger Williams beginning at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively.
