HARTFORD, Conn. — Senior forward and midfielder Claire Colvin of the seventh-ranked Williams College field hockey team finished with one goal and one assist during a 3-2 victory at NESCAC-rival Trinity Saturday afternoon.

"It was a hard-fought win for us on the road," said 27th-year head coach Alix Barrale '93. "Trinity's goalkeeper (Sydney Korkosz) was outstanding. She robbed us of a few scoring opportunities. I am proud of our effort and resilience. We found a way to pull it out."

The Ephs (3-0, 2-0 NESCAC) scored two of their three goals off penalty corners against the Bantams (1-2, 0-2 NESCAC), as five of Williams' seven goals on the season have come off corners. The Ephs have defeated Trinity in five consecutive seasons, dating back to 2022.

Williams opened the scoring during the fifth minute, with Colvin playing a penalty corner from the left attacking side to sophomore midfielder Leah Hong. The ball found its way onto the stick of sophomore midfielder Katie Sigrist, who fired a shot from straight on that was stopped by the goalkeeper. Colvin scooped up the rebound on the left side of the circle, and then slid a pass across the goal line. Senior forward and midfielder Madeline Rowland put the finishing touches on the scoring sequence with her first goal of the season.

Trinity evened the game at 1-1 on a goal by Riley Harrington 35 seconds later. During the final minute of the first quarter, Williams struck again off a penalty corner, taking a 2-1 lead. This time, senior defender Keira Harder sent the ball into play from the left attacking side. First-year defender Hannah Herlihy, who scored her first two collegiate goals in a 2-0 win over No. 6 Babson Thursday, rifled a shot that was redirected into the back of the net by sophomore forward Sawyer Rowland. The Wilmington, Delaware, native picked up her first collegiate game-winning goal on the play.

Colvin put the hosts in front, 3-1, one minute, 46 seconds into the fourth quarter, as she received a pass from senior forward Haley McAuslin and then drew the Bantam goalkeeper out of the net before wrapping around a goal into the bottom right corner. Lindsay Rogers ended the scoring with a goal for the hosts in the 59th minute.

Williams held a 25-5 lead in shots and a 17-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Ephs took 12 penalty corners and only gave up two. Sigrist led all student-athletes with nine shots and five on target. Korkosz made 14 saves for the Bantams.

The Ephs compete against Smith Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Northampton, Massachusetts.
