NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Junior Mikaela Condran and first-year Ella Nannene of the fifth-ranked Williams College field hockey team scored their first collegiate goals Wednesday evening during a 5-0 non-conference victory at Smith.

"It was a great team effort," said 27th-year head coach Alix Barrale '93. "It was a hard-fought win where everyone contributed on the field. We did a nice job converting in our offensive circle."

Senior forward Haley McAuslin finished with two assists for the Ephs (4-0, 2-0 NESCAC) in the triumph over the Bears (2-4). Sophomore midfielder Katie Sigrist buried her first collegiate game-winner in the fifth minute to open the scoring, while senior Madeline Rowland and sophomore Sawyer Rowland added on first-period goals, giving the visitors a 3-0 advantage at the end of one.

Nannene found the back of the net in the 26th minute, and then Condran ended the scoring 1:16 into the fourth quarter. Junior goalkeeper Ellie Smith played the first half and improved to 4-0 on the season, while goalies Bridget Lesch, Savoy McMahon and Miriam Silver competed in second-half action and contributed to the team's shutout.

Williams led in total shots, 30-1, while holding a 24-1 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Iseul Park made 19 saves for the hosts, while the visitors led the penalty-corner statistic, 10-3. Sigrist led all student-athletes with eight total shots and five on target.

The Ephs compete against Colby Saturday at 11 a.m. in Waterville, Maine.
