HARTFORD, Conn. — The 10th-ranked Williams College women's soccer team continued rolling on Saturday afternoon, as the Ephs shut out their third consecutive opponent to begin the 2026 season during a 2-0 win at NESCAC-rival Trinity.

"We could not ask for a better first week of competition," said seventh-year head coach Sarah Raymond. "We had three NESCAC games right off the bat and we came away with all nine points intact, so I am not sure I could ask my team to do any better than that. We have seen a lot in those three games, including many good moments and we are excited about what we can continue to build upon."

The Ephs (3-0-0, 3-0-0 NESCAC) received at least one point from five different student-athletes, as Williams won its fourth straight game against the Bantams (1-1-0, 0-1-0 NESCAC), dating back to the 2023 season. Junior goalkeeper Chelsea Mohammed earned her third win of the season and second individual shutout, making a pair of saves.

Junior midfielder Emmy Chung buried her first collegiate game-winning tally during the 18th minute. The play started with a throw-in by junior midfielder and defender Greta Pew deep on the right attacking side of Trinity's defensive zone. Junior forward Elizabeth Stophel received the ball and slid a pass over to Chung, as the Ann Arbor, Michigan, native buried a shot from outside the 18-yard box into the left side of the net, just beyond the reach of a diving Bantams' goalie.

"Emmy got the scoring started with an amazing left-footed strike," said Raymond. "She has set the bar high for us to outdo that shot. Once our defense settled into the game, it helped us control, stay composed and see out a tight game in good ways. Trinity competed until the end so we could have turned frantic, but we withstood that in good ways. I am excited for the second week of competition."

Williams extended its lead to to 2-0 during the 53rd minute, with sophomore forward and midfielder Maya Lloyd eluding three Bantam defenders on her way inside the box. She then placed a tremendous cross in front of the goal to sophomore midfielder Lucy Carrel, who one-timed the ball into the back of the net.

The Bantams held a 7-6 advantage in total shots, while the Ephs led in shots on goal, 4-2. The visitors attempted four corner kicks and did not relinquish any to the hosts.

The Ephs will compete against 24th-ranked Colby on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. in Waterville, Maine.
