WATERVILLE, Maine — Senior midfielder Andrew Coelho of the 11th-ranked Williams College men's soccer team scored a clutch goal for the second consecutive game, as he buried the equalizer during the 40th minute in a 1-1 tie against Colby Saturday afternoon at Mark R. Serdjenian Field.

"It was a great NESCAC game where both teams left everything on the field," said sixth-year head coach Steffen Siebert. "I am proud of the performance and effort of the team. I am excited for another great game tomorrow."

Grady Kirk opened the scoring for the Mules (2-1-2, 0-1-1 NESCAC) with 6:47 remaining in the first half. Junior goalkeeper Kai Darrell made six saves for the Ephs (4-0-1, 3-0-1 NESCAC) in a complete-game effort. He is 4-0-1 on the season and 8-1-3 in his collegiate career.

Coelho, who recorded the game-winning goal during a 1-0 victory over Gordon Tuesday at Cole Field, generated the equalizer 59 seconds after Kirk's tally. First-year midfielder Nick Appleton began the play with a run down the right attacking side of the field, and then placed a cross into the 18-yard box. Coelho one-timed a shot off the pass that was blocked by a Colby defender, and then the Gloucester, Massachusetts, native followed up with a left-footed shot that landed in the right side of the net, knotting the game at 1-1.

The Ephs are on an 11-game undefeated streak against the Mules dating back to 2016. Williams has gone 5-0-6 against Colby during that stretch.

Colby led in total shots, 15-12, and shots on goal, 7-3. The Ephs generated pressure with 10 corner kicks, while the Mules attempted three. Junior forward Alex Bethencourt fired four shots, tied for the most by any student-athlete in the game.

The Ephs compete against Bowdoin Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Brunswick, Maine.
