BRUNSWICK, Maine — The 11th-ranked Williams College men's soccer team held a 17-5 advantage in total shots and a 9-2 lead in shots on target Sunday afternoon, but Bowdoin was able to score the game's lone goal in the 68th minute during a 1-0 setback for the Ephs at the Pickard Soccer Fields.

"First of all, congratulations to Bowdoin on a six-point weekend," said sixth-year head coach Steffen Siebert. "Our team played a great game and created lots of opportunities. We did not let Bowdoin have much of the ball or have dangerous looks on goal, but the one chance the Polar Bears had they put it in the back of the net. That is how the game goes sometimes, but we take a lot of positives out of today's game for next Saturday when we host Amherst on Cole Field."

Donovan Sinicropi scored the game-winning goal for the Polar Bears (4-0-2, 2-0-1 NESCAC) with 22:46 remaining in the second half, as he sprinted into the 18-yard box and netted a right-footed, one-time sliding shot into the right side. The play was orchestrated by a left-footed service from outside the box by Keito Ishibashi.

The Ephs (4-1-1, 3-1-1 NESCAC) generated many high quality chances late, including when junior forward Lorcan Mitchell looped a shot from the edge of the box in the 89th minute that was going toward the top left corner of the net. Polar Bears' goalkeeper Oliver King made a leaping deflection stop, as he finished with nine saves.

The visitors led the corner-kick statistic, 5-0. Williams received contributions from many student-athletes, as 10 recorded at least one shot and seven tallied a minimum of one shot on goal.

The two programs competed to a 3-3 draw during the 2025 season at Cole Field, while Williams earned a 1-0 victory at Bowdoin during the 2024 season.

The Ephs host Amherst Saturday at noon on Cole Field.
