BRUNSWICK, Maine — Sophomore midfielder Lucy Carrel of the 13th-ranked Williams College women's soccer team buried her second collegiate game-winning goal Sunday afternoon, while sophomore Jackie Rainville and first-year Alli Aleman picked up their first assists as Ephs during a 1-0 victory against Bowdoin at the Pickard Soccer Fields.

"I am proud of the way we showed up today after a disappointing result yesterday," said seventh-year head coach Sarah Raymond. "We started with the intention to play possession soccer and keep the pressure on them in every moment, which we did and were able to create many good scoring opportunities. I am happy to come away with the three points and am confident in the team we can be. The student-athletes came together in great ways today and those on the sideline kept the team energized throughout the contest. It was a fun day."

The Ephs (4-1-0, 4-1-0 NESCAC) are on a seven-game undefeated streak against the Polar Bears (3-3-0, 1-3-0 NESCAC) dating back to 2022. Williams has gone 6-0-1 against Bowdoin during that stretch, including posting a 3-0 triumph during the 2025 NESCAC Quarterfinal at Cole Field in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Junior goalkeeper Chelsea Mohammed made one save, earning her third individual shutout of the season, as the Ephs have shut out 4-of-5 opponents this year and only relinquished one goal. Goalie Natalie Cooke made five saves for the hosts.

During the 70th minute, Aleman eluded a defender on the left attacking side with a tremendous spin move. She then utilized a back-heel pass to Rainville, who made a run into the left side of the 18-yard box. Carrel one-timed with her left foot a delivery from Rainville into the right side of the net.

The Ephs held an 18-6 advantage in total shots, to go along with a 6-1 lead in shots on target. Williams took four corner kicks, while Bowdoin was awarded two. Junior Elizabeth Stophel and Carrel combined for eight total shots and four on net.

The Ephs host Amherst Saturday at 1 p.m. on Cole Field.
