AMHERST, Mass. — The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Women's Golfer of the Week with Williams College first-year Sadie Wu receiving the honor. She is the first Eph to earn the award, which was established this year by the league office.
Making her collegiate debut at the George Phinney Classic hosted by Middlebury College, Wu was eased into the lineup by being entered as an individual, and she thrived in the role, sharing medalist honors when the two rounds were complete. Although the native of East York, Ontario, began her career with a bogey on her first hole, she proceeded to par the next five and added four more to go with a pair of birdies in her opening round to end the day in a tie for fifth at 5-over (76).
Despite a steady rain falling on Sunday throughout the second round, Wu managed to improve upon her first-round score, sinking two more birdies en route to a 4-over 75. That was enough to lift her into a tie for first with one of the first-round leaders, allowing her earn her place atop the leaderboard.
The Ephs will be hosting the next tournament at Taconic Golf Club on Sept. 26-27. The Williams Invitational will tee off on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with the second and final round taking place on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
