FRISCO, Texas — The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) revealed its first national rankings of the sseason across each NCAA level as well as NAIA, and the Williams College women's golf team were listed eighth in the Division III poll.
The Ephs have played in two tournaments this fall, finishing fifth out of 14 teams at the Polar Bear Shootout hosted by Bowdoin, and second of 12 last weekend at the George Phinney Classic hosted by Middlebury. The only teams to finish ahead of Williams were all ranked among the top 11 in the poll.
Head coach Tomas Adalssteinson has gotten excellent play from a number of his golfers, including a pair of first-years in Sadie Wu and Angela Nip. Wu shared medalist honors last weekend in her collegiate debut while playing as an individual, earning NESCAC Golfer of the Week honors, while Nip has placed among the top 20 in both tournaments. Senior Emma Abramson finished third at the Phinney Classic, while junior Michelle Ding and sophomore Zoe Wynn also ended up in the top 10.
This weekend, the Ephs will play host at Taconic Golf Club for the Williams Invitational, with seven of the 14 competing teams being represented in this WGCA Coaches Poll. Play begins with a shotgun start on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., with the second and final round teeing off on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
