HADLEY, Mass. — The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Women's Golfer of the Week today, and for the second straight week, the honor went to a Williams College golfer. This week, senior Emma Abramson received the award after winning the Ephs' home invitational at Taconic Golf Club.
Hailing from Sandwich, Massachusetts, Abramson finished the first round on Saturday with 10 pars and a pair of birdies in carding a 4-over 75, leaving her in a tie for 11th place and four strokes off the pace. But she rallied during the final round on a rainy, blustery Sunday, turning in her first-ever round under par for Williams with a 2-under 69 — one stroke off the program record at Taconic — thanks to five birdies and 10 more pars. That performance vaulted her to the top of the leader board for her first victory since her rookie campaign when she earned honorable mention All-America honors.
Abramson joins first-year Sadie Wu, who won the George Phinney Classic the previous week, as Ephs to win this honor this fall.
Williams travels to Ridgefield, Connecticut to play in the Wesleyan Fall Invitational being held at Silver Spring Country Club. The first round on Saturday, Oct. 3 will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the second and final round taking place on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 8:30 a.m.
