WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Williams College volleyball team dropped their home opener in a hard-fought five set battle (25-27, 18-25, 25-12, 25-19, 12-15) against Skidmore on Tuesday night. 

The Ephs battled back from a two-set deficit, claiming the third and fourth sets by commanding scores of 25-12 and 25-19 to force a fifth set. Williams jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the final frame, but Skidmore responded with a rally of its own, ultimately taking the fifth set to secure the victory.

Williams had three players record double-digit kills, led by Kate Lane, who posted a career-high 15 kills to go along with 13 digs and two blocks. First-Year Ellie Simons added a career-best 12 kills and nine digs, while Keely Campuzano tallied 10 kills and five blocks.

Eve Kaplan paced the Ephs defensively with 20 digs, while Lilly Fox anchored the net with six blocks, including three solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

The Ephs look to bounce back this weekend as they head to the Skidmore Classic on Sept. 11-12. Williams will take on Oswego on Friday night as 7:00 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday against St. John Fisher and Roger Williams.
