NEW LONDON, CT – The Ephs women's soccer
team got its first win of the season today when it traveled to
Connecticut College to take on the Camels (0-2-0) just one day
after its season opener. The Ephs (1-0-1) went up early and never
looked back as the team went on to a 3-0 victory.
With only 3:40 on the clock, Williams scored its first
goal. Off of an assist from Caitlyn Clark, Brett
Eisenhart went one-on-one with the goalie and found the back of
the net. Although Eisenhart's goal was the only of the half,
the Ephs kept the pressure on Connecticut College goalie Kristen
Manville with 12 shots on goal in the first 45 minutes alone.
In the second half, the Ephs continued to attack. In the
68th minute, Kristine Nakada
received a pass from Tyler Rainer and
added an insurance goal for the Williams team. Just over two
minutes later, Eisenhart added her second goal of the game off of a
feed into the box from Jackie Russo. Eisenhart recorded 8 of
Williams' 20 shots on her own.
In the net for Williams, starting keeper Julia Schreiber
recorded one save in the first half. Sophomore goalie Laura Wann
came in for the second half and recorded three saves, including a
penalty kick with only 3:48 remaining. In addition to the
substitution in goal, nine other players came off the bench for the
Ephs.
The Ephs' next opponent is Springfield. The game will take
place on Tuesday evening at 7:00.
