MIDDLEBURY-- The Williams men's tennis team advanced through the quarterfinals of conference play Friday with a 5-1 win over Trinity College.
Williams turned in a strong performance in doubles play and was able to take a 3-0 lead after the first session. Felix Sun and Trey Meyer were particularly efficient at number two, taking their match 8-2.
Due to strong doubles play, Williams only needed two singles wins to close out the match. Trey Meyer and Bryan Chow were the first ones to deliver at the numbers 3 and 5 positions. Meyer was in control from the beginning, winnning in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. Chow was similarly dominant, taking his match 6-1, 6-1.
Williams, the three seed in the tournament, advances to the semi-finals tomorrow against the number two seeded Middlebury Panthers, who advanced with a bye.
