#10 Williams finishes season with victory vs. Trinity

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – In their final regular season matchup, the #10 Williams College Ephs took on the Trinity College Bantams (5-9; NESCAC 1-7) at home. Despite not being able to finish a full 9 matches due to poor weather, the Ephs were able to nonetheless clinch a victory with a 7-0 sweep.

After losing all three doubles matches for the first time this season against Amherst, the Ephs recovered and won all three against the Bantams. Ananth Raghavan '20 replaced Alex Taylor '20 in the top doubles spot, and was partnered with Brian Grodecki '18. They were able to beat Kyle Scheffers and Jagger Riefler 8-4, beginning what ended up being a dominant day for the team. The next two pairs (Jordan Sadowsky '18/Rohan Shastri '17 and Benjamin Lebowitz '20/Sachin Raghavan '18) came through with victories as well, giving the Ephs a 3-0 cushion heading into singles play.

The men also dominated in this portion of the match, with every one of their four victories coming in only two sets. Shastri, Grodecki and Sachin Raghavan continued the momentum that they built in doubles, and their teammate Deepak Indrakanti '19 joined them in victory, defeating Phillip Winser 6-1, 6-3. Ananth Raghavan and Lebowitz were not able to finish their matches, but this did not affect the overall outcome of the match, as the Ephs had already locked up a victory by winning 7 matches.

"It was great to end the regular season on a high note," head coach Dan Greenberg said. "We're excited for the postseason and will look to prepare for it this week."

The Ephs (12-6; NESCAC 4-4) will have a home-court advantage next week, as they have been selected to host the NESCAC championships this year. It will be crucial for them to succeed in order to make a deep run in the postseason. The tournament will take place from Friday, May 5th to Sunday, May 7th.
