WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Alix Barrale's Williams College field hockey team (12-5) has been named to the 26 team NCAA DIII Field Hockey Tournament field. The Ephs will host 19-1 Johnson and Wales (RI) Wednesday, November 9
th on Williamson Field at 5 PM.
The winner of the Williams vs. Johnson and Wales (RI) contest will advance to play the winner of the Washington & Lee vs. Ohio Wesleyan game on November 12.
The Ephs are making their 12
th overall appearance in the NCAA DIII Tournament and first since 2006.
Senior
Emily Batchelor leads the Eph offense having tallied 19 goals and assisting on 4 for 42 points. First year
Kiki Higgins leads the Ephs in assists with 7 and she has scored 7 goals for a total of 21 points. Both Higgins and Batchelor have notched 4 game-winning goals thus far.
Williams has used a goalie tandem in each game this season with senior
Carson Stephenson starting and junior
Gates Tenerowicz playing the second half. This duo has recorded seven combined shutouts this season. Stephenson has allowed 11 goals and has a goals against average of 1.15. She has made 30 saves on the year and sports a save percentage of 0.732 and a record of 10-4.
Tenerowicz has allowed nine goals and owns a 1.20 goals against average and she has registered 20 saves and has a record of 2-1. Her save percentage is 0.690.
The Johnson & Wales (RI) Wildcats are 19-1 and they are the champions of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The Wildcats average four goals a game and their current win streak is four games.
Jillian Miele and Margaret Johnson lead the JWU attack. Miele has 25 goals and 18 assists for 68 points, while Johnson has 16 goals and 11 assists for 43 points. Miele has tallied 8 game-winning goals and Johnson has 4 game-winners.
Madison Flaxington has played 20 games in goal for the Wildcats and she has made 60 saves. Flaxington has notched 4 shutouts and owns a goals against average of 0.610 and a .857 save percentage.
