CLAREMONT, CA. – Williams men's tennis overcame #10 Pomona-Pitzer 6-3 in a tight and exciting encounter. The Ephs began singles play with a 2-1 lead after winning at #1 and #2 doubles 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.
After a slow start in singles, the Ephs bounced back as junior
Chase Cohen, sophomore
Matt Kandel, first year
Shawn Berdia, and senior
Kirun Cheung came back from a set down to win their matches. The match was ultimately clinched by Cohen as he fought back from 5-3 down in the final set. Cohen won the final four games of the match to give the Ephs their fifth point of the dual match.
The Ephs will face #3 CMS tomorrow at 2 pm PST.
