RESULTS
BOSTON, MA -- Williams College Men's Track & Field Team traveled to the TRACK at New Balance this Friday to compete in the 2023 New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The first of the two-day competition began with the sprinting events.
Jacob Cohen '24 ran a solid race in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing in 8.81 seconds. Just after the hurdles came the 60 meter dash, featuring
Jack Davis '24 and
Jackson Anderson '24. The latter ran a time of 6.98 seconds, winning his heat and qualifying for tomorrow's finals with the 6th fastest overall time.
On the distance side, the Ephs had a strong showing in the 5000 meter run, with
Simon Kissam '23 placing 2nd in 14:21.51,
Charles Namiot '25 placing 3rd in 14:26.35, and
John Lucey '24 not far behind in 5th, with a time of 14:31.55.
Grant Gattuso '23 also competed in the event, and he will come back tomorrow to race the 3000 meter run along with Kissam, Namiot, Lucey, and others.
In the field events,
Aidan Casey '25 placed 9th overall, just missing out on a podium spot but taking jumps at a personal best bar. He finished with a height of 4.49 meters (14'8.75").
The most successful event of the evening was the Distance Medley Relay. In this mixed-distance event,
Jinwoo Kang '24 took the opening leg of 1200 meters in 3:01.32. He then handed the baton to
Bryce Cooper '26, who ran the 400 meter leg in 48.52. Third in the relay was
Zachary Liu-Walter, running the 800 meter leg in 1:55.49. The anchor leg of the relay was
Nate Lentz '24, who ran the 1600 meter leg in 4:10.29. This relay team won the event, setting a new meet record in the process.
After the first day of competition, Williams is in 2nd with 28 points, just 4 points behind first place MIT. Williams will return tomorrow to finish the rest of the events.
