The Ephs have arrived in Greensboro and are ready to take their fast swimming and clean diving to the national stage. The NCAA D3 national championship begins tomorrow, March 15th, and runs through March 18th. 13 Ephmen qualified to compete at the meet.
The Ephmen have had a historic season thus far, with their first undefeated dual meet season since 2008 and a commanding victory at the NESCAC championships. The team is defending a 4th place finish at 2022 NCAAs, and are seeded to place 5th this year.
This week promises a number of exciting performances from the Ephmen. Sophomore Oliver Schalet is seeded 3rd in the 200 IM and 9th in the 200 freestyle. He is joined in the 200 IM by junior Jacob Grover, who placed 7th in the event in 2022Â and is seeded 14th this year, and sophomore Charlie Venci, who is seeded 20th.
Grover is set to make an impact in both breaststroke events, where he is seeded 3rd in the 200 and 6th in the 100. He is joined in the 100 by senior Liam Sullivan, who is seeded 21st.
The Ephmen look to continue their tradition of distance dominance with sophomore Carter Anderson and junior Alex Atherton. Anderson is seeded 8th in the mile and 11th in the 500 freestyle. Atherton is seeded 13th in the 500.
The 100 backstroke is a stacked event for the Ephs, with 5 men competing. Seniors Nick Whitcomb and Zeb Hart lead the way, seeded 11th and 12th respectively. Junior Ev Nichol is seeded 14th in the 100 backstroke, but is looking to make his biggest impact for the Ephmen in the 50 freestyle, where he is seeded 4th.
In relay competition, the Ephmen are slated to make their mark in 800 freestyle relay, where they are seeded 4th. They are also seeded 7th in the 400 medley relay, 8th in the 200 freestyle relay, and 9th in the 200 medley relay.
On the boards, the Ephmen will be represented by senior Kobe Tray, who placed 5th on both boards at this meet last year.
Competition begins tomorrow at the Greensboro Aquatic Center at 10am with the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, and 200 medley relay.
