Williamstown, MA — Williams men's tennis fell 7-2 against Middlebury on Saturday. On a chilly but sunny afternoon, the Ephs had a difficult start in both doubles and singles.
The Ephs were all tied up after a win at 1 doubles and a loss at 2 doubles. Senior
Karan Amin and sophomore
Andrew Chong battled at the 3 spot but fell 8-5.
In the singles, the Ephs got off to a poor start on most courts. Senior
Chase Cohen pushed his match to three sets; first year
Simon Volkema fell in a third set super tiebreaker; junior
Matt Kandel dropped the first set and was a few points away from a third set. Despite a strong fight back, the Panthers bested the Ephs.
The Ephs will be on the road next weekend as they make a trip to Maine, facing Bowdoin and Colby in NESCAC play.
