WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS.
– Three members of
George McCormack's 2023 Williams men's lacrosse team (10-8) that advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round have been honored for their play this spring by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its 2023 Blatant Lacrosse Division III All-Americans, along with the association's eight award winners.
Senior goalie
Matthew Freitas was named to the USILA First Team and was named the winner of the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Outstanding Goalie Award. Junior defender
Sam Cragin and senior long stick middie
Ian Di Pietro were accorded Honorable Mention All-America recognition.
Earlier this spring
Matthew Freitas and
Sam Cragin earned First Team All-NESCAC honors, while
Ian Di Pietro was accorded All-NESCAC Second Team recognition.
In addition Freitas was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) First Team,
Ian Di Pietro to the NEILA Second Team, while
Sam Cragin received NEILA Honorable Mention recognition.
"We are all very proud of Matt, Sam and Ian," said McCormack. "Matt's play in the cage this year allowed us to stay in every game and Sam and Ian were two of the best defenders in our conference game in and game out."
