Rochester, NY – Several members of the Williams men's track and field team competed on Thursday, May 25th, 2023, at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Williams competitors include Jackson Andeson '24 in the decathlon, Jinwoo Kang '24 in the 1500m, Nikhil DeNatale '26 in the 3000m steeplechase, and Elias Lindgren '23 and Charles Namiot '25 in the 10000m.
In the 1500m, Kang placed 14th with a time of 3:50.79. DeNatale placed 13th in the 3000m steeple with a new personal record time of 8:56.86 to make #3 all-time at Williams. In the 10000m, both Lindgren and Namiot set new personal records. Lindgren placed 7th, extending his school record by 20 seconds with a time of 29:16.73 and earning the all-American honors. Namiot placed 13th with a time of 29:37.98 to make #2 all-time at Williams.
In the decathlon, Anderson is currently in 1st place overall. He competed in 5 events today: the 100m, long jump, shotput, high jump, and 400m. In the 100m, he placed 1st with a personal record time of 10.56s to extend his school record by 0.01s. In the long jump, Anderson also placed 1st with a jump of 7.01m (23'). In the shotput, Anderson set a new personal record of 12.12m (39'9.25") to place 4th. He placed 7th in the high jump with a jump of 1.84m (6'0.5"), and 1st in the 400m with a personal record time of 49.12s.
The meet will continue Friday and Saturday with Sam Riley '23 competing in the pole vault on Friday and Anderson closing the decathlon with the 110m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1500m. On Saturday, Lindgren will compete in the 5000m.
