Hanover, NH- The men's tennis team opened their season at the Dartmouth invitational, as all six players battled against players from Dartmouth, Brown, and Boston University. Doubles started off well as sophomore sensation Nicholas Chen and his partner, junior Matt Kandel made quick work of the Dartmouth pair, 6-3. First year Kush Anand and sophomore Simon Volkema fell to BU, 6-3. Captain Shawn Berdia alongside first year Leon Liu had a marathon match against a pair of BU players, falling short in a tiebreaker.
In singles, Liu and Berdia highlighted the day with commanding straight sets victories, particularly impressive for Liu as he dispatched his opponent so confidently in his first ever college match. Coach Dan Greenberg noted, "It was a solid start to the year, with a couple great wins for Leon and Shawn. We look to keep improving and I am excited to compete again tomorrow." The Ephs return to action tomorrow morning.
