Eph Into Final Day of ITA Regionals

Brunswick, ME- The morning started off well with Chen/Kandel winning quickly 8-0 in their doubles match. They moved on to the quarterfinals where they played an up and down match, eventually falling to a Middlebury team, 8-5. Kandel would continue later in singles, powering past his Tufts opponent in straight sets. In the quarterfinals, Kandel quickly won the first set against a Wesleyan player, but an inspired set second back by a passionate Wesleyan fan base propelled Kandel's opponent to win the second. But Kandel held his nerve and ran away with the third set, 6-1. He plays tomorrow in the semis against Brandeis. Coach Greenberg said of the day, "Solid day overall. Matt beat a couple good players, and played some of his best tennis when it counted most. I'm also proud of how some of the other men competed in matches throughout the day, picking up some great wins there."
