Ephs Show Their Strength at Middlebury New England Small College Invitational

BOSTON, MA -- The Men's Track and Field team continued the season with their first meet of the new year at the 2025 Middlebury New England Small College Invitational on January 26th. In a NESCAC showdown, the Ephs proved their strength with incredible marks all around.

The first event was the 60m hurdles, where Alfonso Pimentel '28 started off the day strong placing 9th with a time of 8.79s, a new personal best. Oak Sullivan '28 ran a time of 9.04s, and in his college debut, Brady Stahelski '27 got a time of 9.17. In the 60m Dash prelims, Oscar Newmen '25 placed 1st with a new personal best of 6.96s, putting him #3 on the Williams all-time list. Also competing were William Murray '25, Yanni Kakouris '27, Stahelski, and Joseph Kouame-Waldman '26, finishing with times of 7.15s, 7.36s, 7.37s, and 7.64s, respectively. In the finals, Newman placed 4th with another strong time of 6.99s. In the 5k, lone Eph Duncan DeProfio '27 showed out with a new personal best of 15:48.42, placing 6th.

Next was the 1 Mile Run, Chuckie Namiot '25 placed 14th with a time of 4:24.13. Ethan Striff-Cave '27 and Luke Rostan '27 also competed very well with times of 4:26.91 and 4:41.07, both being new personal bests. In the 800m, Keiyu Mamiya '28, Charles Dybala '28, and Zachary Liu-Walter placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, with times of 1:55.41, 1:55.74, and 1:56.42, and a new college best for Dybala. Henry Reinke '28 and Bryce Cooper '26 also competed strongly with times of 1:59.51 and 2:08.86.

Over on the field, the first event was the Weight Throw where Michael Fay '27 threw a new personal best of 13.72m (45' 0.25"), placing 14th. Jordan Davis '28 threw a mark of 11.49m (37' 8.50"), respectively. In the Long Jump, Murray placed 8th with a strong mark of 6.16m. In the Shot Put, Sullivan and Stahelski threw marks of 10.84m (35' 6.75") and 9.77m (32' 0.75"). In the High Jump, Sullivan, Davis, and Kouame-Waldman jumped 1.75m (5' 8.75"), 1.70m (5' 7.00"), and 1.60m (5' 3.00"). Finally, in the Pole Vault, Vincent VanMaaren finished 4th with a new personal best of 4.70m (15' 5.00"), putting him #2 on the Williams all-time list.

Back on the track, Kakouris finished 18th in the 200m with a time of 22.84s. In the 3k, a herd of Ephs competed. Malcolm Oakes placed 2nd with a time of 8:22.67, Graham Tuohy Gaydos '25 placed 8th with a time of 8:37.07, and Emil Nelson '28 placed 10th with a time of 8:45.19. Eli Welch '28, Nikhil Denatale '26, and Avery Allen '27 finished with times of 8:50.22, 8:51.67, and 8:52.96. Tom Emery '27, Victor Cazabal '25, and Jackson McFerron '28 also competed, getting 9:00.22, 9:20.25, and 9:22.60, respectively. In the 4x4, Dybala, Striff-Cave, Emery, and Mamiya closed out the meet well, placing 6th with a time of 3:27.43.

In a meet filled with incredible effort and personal records, the Ephs showed that they will be a strong force throughout the rest of the season. Next weekend, the Men's team will split up and compete at both the Harvard Invitational and the BU Terrier Invitational on January 31st, 2025.
