WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Coming off a big win last weekend against Tufts, today the Ephs faced #13 ranked Amherst. Heading in, the Ephs knew it would be a close one, with every match set to be a battle. Ultimately, the Ephs fell 6-3 to Amherst in a disappointing result.
First on court were
Melanie Wang,
Rhea Pandit, and
Nora Brant. Brant had a strong showing, beating her Mammoth opponent in four close games showing grit and determination through to the end. Meanwhile, Wang lost in a hard-fought four games, while Pandit's Mammoth opponent outplayed her in five.
Next on court were
Christina Yen,
Rachel Miller, and
Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis. Jefferson-Sambanis played beautiful squash against a strong opponent to clinch her match in four games. At the same time, Miller and Yen lost in straight games to tough opponents.
Last on court were
Sophia Koehler,
Theresa Kay, and
Amanda Solecki.
Theresa Kay played strong squash, winning a decisive three game match. Meanwhile, Koehler lost in four games, while Solecki also fell in a hard-fought five game match.
After the match Eph head coach
Hesham Aly commented, "Today was not the showing that we had hoped for. Every match was winnable, and it was disappointing to see the team go down 6-3. Nevertheless, we will bounce back and put in some hard work heading into NESCACs".
The Ephs have a ten day hiatus before they hit the road for the NESCAC tournament.
