Ephs Compete Well at Harvard Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Half of the Williams College Men's Track and Field team competed at the Harvard Invitational on Friday, January 31st, 2025. After an intensive training block over winter study, the Ephs were eager to show how hard they have been working this past month. 

The first event of the day was the Weight Throw, where Michael Fay '27 placed 7th with a mark of 13.46m (44' 2"). Additionally, Jordan Davis '28 placed 9th with a mark of 11.58m (38'). In the Shot Put, Davis threw another solid mark of 10.29m (33' 9.25"), placing him 12th. Also competing in that event were Brady Stahelski '27 and Joseph Kouame-Waldman '26, throwing 9.49m (31' 1.75") and 9.40m (30' 10.25").

Next was the Long Jump, where Oak Sullivan '28 placed 7th with a jump of 6.53m (21' 5.25"). The rest of the pack, consisting of Stahelski, Devesh Khamitkar '28, Will Murray '25, and Joseph Kouame-Waldman '26, jumped 6.17m (20' 3"), 6.13m (20' 1.5"), 5.72m (18' 9.25"), and 5.58m (18' 3.75"), respectively. In the Triple Jump, Abdiel Perde '28 had his collegiate debut and finished with a mark of 12.17m (39' 11.25"), placing him 5th. Over at the Pole Vault, Vincent VanMaaren '27 jumped 4.60m (15' 1") and Aidan Casey '25 jumped 4.45m (14' 7.25"), placing them 4th and 6th. 

In the 5000m Nikhil Denatale '26 placed 1st with a time of 15:16.32. Not far behind was Avery Allen '27, finishing in 15:26.25 to place 2nd. Jackson McFerron '28 placed 5th with a time of 16:50.20. In the 3000m, Tom Emery '27 and Henry Alexander '27 finished 6th and 8th with times of 8:53.70 and 8:58.22. Duncan DeProfio '27 achieved a new personal best of 9:01.54, and Luke Rostan '27 finished with a time of 9:27.99. The 1000m consisted of two more Ephs, where Zachary Liu-Walter '26 ran 2:33.04, followed by Henry Reinke '28 with 2:35.29. In the Mile, Ethan Striff-Cave '27 finished 5th with a time of 4:24.39, a new personal best. Victor Cazabal '25 also competed, achieving a time of 4:42.16. Finishing up the meet were the 60m Dash and 60m Hurdles. Will Murray '25 finished with a time of 7.12s in the 60m. Closing the day was Alfonso Pimentel '28, who placed 6th in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.59s, a new personal best.

After the progress shown by the men today, it is clear more exciting results are to come through the remainder of the indoor season and into the outdoor season. The rest of the team will be competing on Saturday, February 1st, at the 2025 Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic.
