WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Ephs women's cross-country team earned a fifth-straight meet win at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State, as first-year Estella Laird was the first individual to cross the line.
Laird clocked a time of 18:22 in the 6k race, and classmates Ginger Long (3rd overall, 18:30) and Linnea Cox (4th, 18:36) were just behind.
Sophomore Uma Champe finished 12th, Eliana Zitrin was 15th, Vivienne Namiot was 22nd and Mariem Sayahi was 29th as the Ephs had a team score of 34, beating second-place Westfield State by 11 points.
A relatively small Ephs squad also featured Caitlin Striff-Cave as the team has now won each race in which it has competed this season.
"It was a good show of team depth and development," said Head Coach Dusty Lopez. "Pretty much across the board we had people give their most competitive efforts of the season, particularly the first years. Always nice to see two wins."
Williams will travel to Connecticut next weekend to preview the NESCAC Championship course at the Conn College Invitational, at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn. The NESCAC Championship will take place two weeks later at the same location.
