WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College men's tennis program has a rich and proud history of success.

Since head coach
Dan Greenberg '08 took control of the team in 2009, the Ephs have reached the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals or better seven times, 14 Ephs have earned All-American honors, three doubles' teams have won Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national titles and the unit has made a trio of Final Four appearances.
The Ephs are looking forward to continuing their winning ways, as they begin the 2025 fall season with the ITA New England Regional on Oct. 3-5 at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Williams also takes its talents to the Skidmore Invitational on Oct. 11-12 in Saratoga Springs, New York, and then concludes the fall portion of its schedule with the Dartmouth Invite on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Hanover, New Hampshire.
This year's team features a blend of experience and young talent, including seven returners and three newcomers. Assistant Coach
Andrew Dorr enters his fourth year on staff, while
Nicholas Chen '26 and
Simon Volkema '26 will be in leadership roles as captains. The other five returning student-athletes are
Leon Liu '27,
Robert Cooper Jr. '28,
Carter Fayard '28,
Jack Ling '28 and
Diego Marin '28. The program is thrilled to welcome
Anthony Lim '29,
William Luke '29 and
Matthew Yang '29 to the family.
"I am looking forward to this fall," said Greenberg. "We have three great rookies joining the team, and our returners have put in a lot of work this summer to make a leap this next year. We spent September on the fundamentals, compete a lot in October and then build throughout the winter in preparation for the spring season."
During the 2024-25 season, Chen advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Singles Championship, earning ITA All-American laurels in singles action. The Oakland, California, native garnered All-American honors in doubles competition at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Chen was recognized on the 2025 All-NESCAC First Team in doubles, while Volkema earned a spot on the Second Team in singles. The two outstanding student-athletes were selected to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

"Our team is really excited for the fall season," said Chen. "We have a lot of underclassmen this year and their energy has added an extra spark to the team. Over the past month, we have built a strong sense of trust and competitive spirit. We are going to enjoy the battle and give it our all at the ITA Regional this weekend."
The Ephs continued to prioritize academic success last season, as they were honored with the ITA All-Academic Team award. Ling, Marin, Chen, Liu, Cooper Jr., Volkema and Fayard were recognized individually with Scholar-Athlete distinction.
Williams has compiled a great deal of recent success, reaching the Elite Eight in 2021 and 2022 and the Sweet 16 during 2023 and 2024.
Â
"We are very excited about this year's potential," said Volkema. "We have put in a lot of work on and off the court and expect it to pay dividends as we head into our first weekend of competition. Between the experience of the upperclassmen and the hunger of the underclassmen, it is shaping up to be a great year."
