CANTON, N.Y. - The Williams College women's cross-country team captured the 2025 NCAA Division III Mideast Region Championship on Saturday afternoon at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course at St. Lawrence University, running a strong race and winning in dominant fashion.
The Ephs placed all seven of their runners in the top 14 of the race, earning a point total of 39, winning comfortably over NESCAC rival Middlebury College, who was second with 92 points. The top five included Amherst (122), Vassar (132), and Conn College (141).
With the win, Williams earned automatic qualification for next weekend's National Championship race, taking place on Saturday in South Carolina.
Sophomore Kate Tuttle surged in the final mile to earn third place in the race and first on the Williams squad, finishing with a time of 21:34 on the muddy and challenging 6k course.
Experience ruled for the Ephs as the next six finishers were all juniors and seniors. Kate Swann was next for Williams (7th overall, 21:46), followed by Tamar Byl-Brann (8th, 21:51), Morgan Eigel (10th, 22:00), Charlene Peng (11th, 22:03), Jordan Liss-Riordan (13th, 22:13) and Fiona Picone (14th, 22:14).
The top team from each of 10 regional championships held across the country today will earn automatic qualification for next weekend's National Championship race, with an additional 22 schools earning at-large bids for the championships.
The NCAA Championship will be held next Saturday, November 22, at Roger Milliken Cross Country Course in Spartanburg, South Carolina; hosted by Converse University, Limestone University and OneSpartanburg, Inc. The men's race will take place at 10am, with the women's race following at 11am. Streaming and live results will be available online and will be linked on the Ephs teams' schedule pages.
