HADLEY, Mass. - Williams College junior forward Brady Welsch was named the NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week on Monday, following a huge weekend for the Fond du Lac, Wis. native.
Welsch scored five goals in two weekend games for the Ephs, starting with a hat trick in a 5-3 win over Connecticut College on Friday, and then two more on Saturday, including the game-winning power play goal in overtime to earn a 4-3 victory over Tufts.
The two wins both came in front of boisterous crowds at Lansing Chapman Rink in Williamstown, and were the first two games of the season for Welsch, who was out for the opening weekend of the Ephs' season.
With five goals this season, Welsch has already set a new individual mark for most goals in a season, having scored twice in 18 games as a first-year, and four in the same number of games last year.Â
