Ephs Compete At BU and Tufts

BOSTON, MA — The Williams College Men's Track and Field team competed at both the BU Valentine Meet on Friday, February 14th, and the Tufts Stampede Open on Saturday, February 15th, 2025. The Ephs competed well with strong performances and new personal bests. 

Starting on Friday at BU, Oscar Newman '25 kicked things off in the 400m with an impressive time of 48.58s. Colin Stone '27 ran a time of 50.37s, qualifying him for D3 New England Championships, followed by Nathan Correlius '27 running a new college best of 51.47s. In the 800m, Charles Dybala '28 achieved a massive new personal record of 1:53.69. Zachary Liu-Walter '26 was not far behind, finishing with a time of 1:54.51.

Next was the 200m, where Newman ran another incredible race, finishing with a time of 22.48s. Yanni Kakouris '27 also raced well with a time of 22.59s, followed by Sheehan Pierre-Louis '28, who in his collegiate debut, ran a personal best of 22.68s. In the 1 mile, Tom Emery '27 finished with a new best of 4:17.51. The final event of the night was the 5k. Malcolm Oakes '28 ran a new college best of 14:29.75, and Grahm Tuohy Gaydos '25 finished with a time of 14:45.33. 

The next day at Tufts, Michael Fay '27 started things off strong in the weight throw with a new personal record of 14.16m (46' 5.50"), placing him 9th. Jordan Davis '28 also competed and threw 12.07m (39' 7.25"). In the 5k, Avery Allen '27 finished 5th with a time of 15:15.96. Emil Nelson '28 followed in 6th, achieving a new college best of 15:19.89. Over on the field, Vincent VanMaaren '27 finished 1st in the Pole Vault, clearing 4.60m (15' 1"). Aidan Casey '25 finished 3rd, clearing 4.30m (14' 1.25"). Abdiel Perde '28 finished 10th in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.70m (38' 4.75").

During the 60m Dash, Devesh Khamitkar '28 ran a new personal best of 7.20s, putting him in 6th place after the preliminaries. In the finals, he placed 7th with a time of 7.28s.  In the 1 Mile, Victor Cazabal '25 finished with a time of 4:38.20. Henry Reinke '28 finished 5th in the 800m with a time of 2:01.18, and Bryce Cooper '26 finished 2nd in the 200m with a time of 22.71s. In the 3k, Ethan Striff-Cave '27 and Henry Alexander '27 placed 5th and 7th with times of 8:42.77 and 8:46.02, both achieving new personal records. Blake Biever '27 also got a new best with a time of 9:14.17.

The Ephs will compete next at the Division III New England Championships at The Track at New Balance in Boston on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st, 2025. This is one of the most important meets of the indoor season and the last for most. It will be exciting to see what the Ephs can bring after a very successful indoor season thus far.
