Multis Shine in Heptathlon at Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, MA - Three members of the Williams College Men's Track and Field team competed at the Tufts Cupid Challenge from Friday, February 7th - Saturday, February 8th, 2025. Oak Sullivan '28, Brady Stahelski '27, and Joseph Kouame-Waldman '26 each competed in the Heptathlon, a competition across six different events. The three Ephs competed very well, with an abundance of great performances and new personal bests.

Sullivan, the first-year phenom, won the competition with a total of 4,692 points, putting him at #4 on the Williams all-time list. In the 60m Dash, he finished with a time of 7.11s, followed by an impressive mark of 6.34m (20' 9.6") in the Long Jump. Next was the Shot Put, where he threw 10.91m (35' 9.5"), a new personal best, and in the High Jump, he cleared 1.75m (5' 8.75"). In the 60m Hurdles, he finished with a time of 8.94s. Following that was the Pole Vault, where Sullivan scored a massive new personal best of 3.90m (12' 9.5"), an 80cm increase from his previous record. Finally, in the 1000m, he finished with a time of 2:55.08.

Stahelski, the newest member of the team, finished in 4th with a total of 4,317 points, putting him at #7 on the Williams all-time list. In the 60m Dash, he finished first with a new personal best of 7.11s, followed by a mark of 6.17m (20' 3") in the Long Jump.  Next was the Shot Put, where he threw a personal best of 10.45m (34' 3.4"), and in his High Jump debut, he cleared 1.66m (5' 5.4"). In the 60m Hurdles, he finished with a time of 8.89s. Over at the Pole Vault, Stahelski achieved another huge personal best of 3.50m (11' 5.75"). Finally, in his 1000m debut, he finished with a time of 3:09.78.

Kouame-Waldman, the veteran of the Heptathlon, scored a new personal best with a total 3695 points, putting him at #8 on the Williams all-time list. In the 60m Dash, he finished with a new personal best of 7.45s, followed by a mark of 5.85m (19' 2.3") in the Long Jump. Next was the Shot Put, where he threw 9.76m (32' 0.25"), and in the High Jump, achieved a new personal best of 1.69m (5' 6.5"). In the 60m Hurdles, he finished with a time of 11.00s. Following that was the Pole Vault, where Kouame-Waldman matched his personal best of 3.40m (11' 1.75"). Lastly, he scored one more personal best in the 1000m, finishing with a time of 3:08.90.

Overall, after two days of excellent performances and three finishes on the Williams top 10 list, it is clear that our Heptathlete squad is going to be an unstoppable force going forward into the remainder of the season. Next weekend, the Ephs will be competing at two competitions, the BU Valentine and the Tufts Invite, on Saturday, February 15th, 2025.
