Ephs Finish 4th at NESCAC Championships


MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Ephs competed at Wesleyan University in the NESCAC Championship Meet on Saturday, April 26th, 2025. Despite the rainy weather, the men's team persevered and was able to secure a respectable fourth place finish. 

Kicking things off in the 10,000m were Emil Nelson '28, Grahm Tuohy Gaydos '25, and Eli Welch '28. Nelson finished in 2nd place with a time of 31:14.67. Gaydos and Welch were not far behind, securing 4th and 5th place with times of 31:15.88 and 31:20.35. Avery Allen '27 also competed, finishing with a time of 33:25.82. 

Next was the 100m, where William Murray '25 and Sheehan Pierre-Louis '28 both had strong performances, achieving times of 11.17s and 11.25s. Yanni Kakouris '27 and Devesh Khamitkar '28 both finished in 11.41s. Next was the 3000m Steeplechase, where Nikhil Denatale '26 finished with a season best of 9:24.24 to place 3rd. Henry Alexander '27 also posted a season best with a time of 9:26.78 to place 5th. 

In the 1500m, Keiyu Mamiya '28 and Tom Emery '27 both competed well to secure 5th and 6th place with times of 3:55.93 and 3:57.85. Next was the 400m, where Oscar Newman '25 placed 5th with a season best of 48.61s. Additionally, Colin Stone '27 and Asa Shepard '27 both ran seasons best of 50.10s and 52.27s, respectively. 

Next was the 800m, where Zachary Liu-Walter '26 ran a season best of 1:51.70 to place 4th. Also, Henry Reinke '28 set a new personal best of 1:54.92, followed by Emery getting a time of 1:55.74. In the 200m, Oscar Newman '25 destroyed the competition, finishing in 21.56s to place 1st. Yanni Kakouris '27 and Nathan Corrielus '27 both competed, posting times of 22.51s and 23.64s. In the 5000m, Malcolm Oakes '28 placed 7th with a time of 14:43.44. Also, Rick Yanashita '26 finished with a time of 15:09.07 and Rex Bedwick '28 ran 16:01.12.

Over on the field, Brady Stahelski '27 had a massive showing in the Javelin Throw to win the event, throwing 55.86m (183' 3"). Jordan Davis '28 achieved a new personal best of 49.80m (163' 4") to place 7th, and Oak Sullivan '28 achieved a mark of 46.40m (152' 2"). William Murray '25 placed 8th in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.55m (21' 6"). Joseph Kouame-Waldman '26 also competed, jumping 5.95m (19' 6.25").

The meet wrapped up with the relays. In the 4x400m, Nathan Corrielus '27, Colin Stone '27, Yanni Kakouris '27, and Asa Shepard '27 finished with a time of 3:25.29. Mamiya, Liu-Walter, Charlie Dybala '28, and Henry Reinke '28 showed a tremendous amount of grit in the 4x800m, finishing in 7:42.33 for 3rd. The Ephs scored 74 points overall, placing 4th. They will turn their efforts to the Farley Inter Regional meet on May 9th, to be held at Williams.
